Rio’s Prawn Lure – Rio Ricatti

05:27

From the Coastwatch Vault this story shot in November 1997 is on Rio Ricatti’s Rio’s Prawn Lures. It was a great yarn about a thinking angler who developed a lure that looked like a fleeing prawn and was deadly on a lot of species that feed on prawns, especially trevally. He made them at home in Cooroibah near Noosa with the help of his wife and daughter and pretty soon had a thriving cottage industry business going. Like all good ideas in this modern world it didn’t take long for tackle suppliers to take them to China and import cheap copies. If you want to buy some original Rio’s Prawn Lures he still makes them and you can order them at http://www.rioslures.com.au
