From the Coastwatch Vault, this John Charlton surfer profile shot in September 1997 on Mick Fanning. At the time Mick was 16 and as you’ll see was very focused on being a successful pro surfer, which he achieved in style. Since this story was shot, three of Mick’s brothers Sean, Peter and Ed have passed away and we hope Mick and his family are not upset at seeing them in this.
