Affectionately known as ‘Ern’, Ian Byrne is a former champion competitor whose reputation as a big wave surfer matches his well-deserved renown as a master shaper. He has an ongoing connection to Oahu¹s North Shore, a place where he tests his surfing and hones his design ideas. Many of the world’s best professional surfers seek out Ian’s advice and interpretive experience; his shapes are integral to many a touring quiver.
