Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.40am Thursday 28th March 2024

Weather: Gold Coast: Mostly sunny with a 10% chance of showers and a top temperature of 28 degrees.

Sunshine Coast: Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers, mostly in the morning and a top temperature of 28 degrees

Wind: Gold Coast: 10-15kts S/SE early, becoming SE during the morning, reaching 15-20kts at times during the day

Sunshine Coast: 10-15kts E/SE early, becoming SE during the morning, reaching 15-20kts at times during the day

Swell: 1m Easterly and uneven on the open beaches, smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 9.34am … Low @ 3.40pm … Snapper Rocks: High @ 9.18am … Low @ 3.20pm

Best waves: Winds have been onshore during the night, so conditions are a little messy. If the wind forecast is right and it stays SE through the day, it looks like the cleanest waves will once again be on the points and in the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay.

Best Beaches: It’s looking like a better day for the beach, especially on the Gold Coast. The safest beaches for a swim will be in the bays at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. On the ebb tide from mid morning to mid afternoon, any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach, particularly along the open stretches. Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
