Sunshine Coast Mackeral Mayhem

The mackerel are running hot! April and May have traditionally been good months at the tail end of the season to find premium quality fish with high fat content, making for excellent eating. Coastwatch takes you into the mackerel hot zone off the Sunshine Coast with Dave Granville, in this comprehensive catch-to-cook series.

Part 1 — The Catching

A glorious morning session off the Sunshine Coast starts explosively – with a hook-up in the first ten minutes. Dave Granville provides insightful information, advice and tips on catching this exhilarating and prized species.

Part 2  – The Filleting

Dave Granville gives an informative demonstration of the filleting of the Spanish Mackerel catch and its preparation for optimal table quality.

Part 3  – The Cooking

Dave Granville introduces Andy Orr who shows us how to cook Spanish Mackerel in a delicious and tasty satay curry.
