Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.55am Friday 31st May 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: The BOM is forecasting a partly cloudy day, with a medium chance of showers and a top temperature of 25°

Wind Forecast: 5-10kts W/SW this morning, becoming 10-15kts N/NE this afternoon

Swell: 0.75-1m Easterly and uneven

Tides:  Low @ 9am … High @ 3pm

Best waves: With light W/SW winds this morning, look for waves on the beach breaks and the points. If the wind swings N/NE this afternoon as forecast, look on the south side of the headlands at Sunshine Beach, Yaroomba, Kawana, Kings Beach Caloundra and from Southport Spit to Surfers Paradise

Best Beaches: Apart from the chance of a few showers, with light W/SW winds forecast for this morning most beaches should be pleasant. If the wind swings N/NE and freshens this afternoon as predicted, the best beaches on the Sunshine Coast offering shelter from those winds, will be on the south side of the headlands at Sunshine Beach, Kawana and Kings at Caloundra. On the Gold Coast, the best options will be from Southport Spit to Broadbeach. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and any rips and sweep working around those features, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the early morning and late afternoon ebb tides, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
