Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.50am Thursday 20th June 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: Mostly sunny on the Sunshine Coast, with a top temperature of 23°. A mostly sunny morning, becoming cloudy during the day on the Gold Coast, with a top temperature of 22°

Wind Forecast: Light NW/SW this morning, becoming NW/NE this afternoon

Swell: 0.5-0.75m SE on the northern ends of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and smaller and more E/SE inside the bays on the north side of headlands. It’s a bit bigger along the Tweed and Byron Coasts

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 6.22am & 7.19pm … Low @ 12.25pm

Snapper Rocks: High @ 6.25am & 7pm … Low @ 12.14pm

Best waves: There’s really small waves on the Gold Coast points, but they’re too full either side of high tide. Not much happening on the Sunshine Coast points and the inner bays at Noosa are almost flat. A better plan might be to look for small beach breaks along the open stretches of beach, or go for a drive south of the border where the SE swell is a bit bigger. if you have to travel from Brisbane, it’s not worth the drive

For some surfing history, check the daily videos from the Coastwatch Vault at the bottom of this page

Best Beaches: Another cool winter’s day. The water temperature is cooling down as it does in winter and is between 19 and 21°. Beach conditions are pretty safe for a swim, but you should always be careful and swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches and any rips and sweep working around them, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the morning ebb tide
