Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.50am Friday 10th May 2024
Weather Forecast: The BOM is forecasting a partly cloudy day with a 50-60% chance of showers and a top temperature of 24°
Wind Forecast: 10kts S/SW early, becoming 10-15kts S/SE this morning, tending more SE during the day and reaching 15kts plus at times in the afternoon
Swell: 1-1.2m E/SE on the open beaches on the northern ends of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and along the Tweed Coast. Smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands, particularly the inner bays at Noosa
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 9.18am … Low @ 3.13pm
Snapper Rocks: High @ 9.34am … Low @ 3.11pm
Best waves: With a forecast of moderate to fresh S/SE to SE winds, the cleanest waves will be once again be on the points and in the bays on the north side of headlands. While the wind is light S/SW early, you could look for beach breaks between Maroochydore and Caloundra and Currumbin to Coolangatta
Best Beaches: It looks like being another partly cloudy day with a medium chance of showers. As the weather cools down it’s good to be able to find beaches sheltered from the wind and with fresh SE winds forecast for today, the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will offer that shelter
It’ll be windy along the open stretches of beach and there’s inshore holes and gutters along them. Any rips and sweep working around those features, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the mid morning to mid afternoon ebb tide, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
