Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.45am Tuesday 23rd April 2024
Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy, with a 70% chance of showers on the Gold Coast and an 80% chance on the Sunshine Coast and a top temperature of 25-26°
Wind Forecast: 10-15kts SW/SE early, becoming 15kts plus SE during the morning
Swell: 1.2-1.5m E/SE. in the bays on the north side of headlands. A bit bigger on the open beaches on the northern ends of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 7.32am … Low @ 1.42pm
Snapper Rocks: High @ 7.22am … Low @ 1.28pm
Best waves: Given the solid swell and the forecast of fresh SE winds, the points and bays on the northern side of headlands will have the best waves. The open beaches will be messy
Best Beaches: The solid Easterly swell and big tidal differences around the full moon are making swimming in the surf potentially dangerous, particularly along the open stretches. The bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will offer the best shelter from the SE wind. If the beach is open and you do go in the water, don’t go out of your depth and make sure you swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
