Hit it early on the points and beach breaks while the wind is offshore. When the wind swings onshore during the morning, wave quality will deteriorate
Best Beaches:
The forecast is for a mostly sunny day on the Gold Coast, with a very low chance of showers. On the Sunshine Coast, it should be partly cloudy and a higher chance of showers and the possibility of a storm, but make sure you use sun protection.
Today is the last day of big tides. They’ve been slowly decreasing the past few days as we approach the first quarter of the moon on Friday night. Around the first and last quarters of the moon we have what are called neap tides, which means there isn’t a big tidal difference between high and low tide.
However, when the tides ebb, the water draining off the beach enhances any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags. Watch out for bluebottles. Check along the tide line before you go in the water, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask a lifeguard. If you are stung, see the beach patrol for treatment
