Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.30am 22nd March 2024
Weather: The forecast is for a cloudy day with a 50% chance of showers and a top temperature of 27 degrees on the Gold Coast and a 90% chance of showers and a top temperature of 26 degrees on the Sunshine Coast
Wind: 10-15kts S/SW early, forecast to become 15-20kts SE this morning, with stronger gusts during the day
Swell: 1–1.5m E/SE with bigger sets
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 6.40am & 7pm … Low @ 1.07pm … Snapper Rocks: High @ 6.15am & 6.39pm … low @ 12.44pm
Best waves: Another day of fresh SE winds means the points and bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Currumbin Alley, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will have the cleanest waves. They are a bit full on the early high tide, but will improve through the morning as the tide falls off and there’s less water on the banks
Best Beaches: Showers and fresh SE winds are forecast, so the best and safest options for a swim will be in the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay, where there’s shelter from the wind
It’s full moon Monday night and the tides are getting bigger, so on the ebb tide through the morning until early afternoon, any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach. Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
