Gold & Sunshine Coast Forecast Issued at 4.45pm Sunday 24th March for Monday 25th March 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather: Tomorrow’s forecast is cloudy with an 80% chance of showers and a top temperature of 25 degrees on the Sunshine Coast and cloudy with a 60% chance of showers and a top temperature of 26 degrees on the Gold Coast

Wind: Light SW/S early, forecast to become S/SE during the morning and 10-15kts E/SE in the afternoon

Swell: 1-1.2m E/SE on the open beaches, smaller in the inner bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 8.11am … Low @ 2.24pm … Snapper Rocks: High @ 7.50am  … Low @ 2.06pm

Best waves: While the wind is SW/S, becoming S/SE this morning, the cleanest conditions will be on the points and in the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Currumbin Alley, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. They’ll be full either side of the morning high tide, but should improve late morning as the tide falls off and there’s less water on the banks. If the wind swings E/SE in the afternoon as forecast, wave quality will deteriorate. It might be worth looking for early beach breaks while the wind is light SW/S to get a few waves without the crowds

Best Beaches: Cloudy with showers is the forecast again tomorrow, so not the best beach weather. In the predicted winds, the best and safest beaches for a swim will be the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay

It’s full moon tomorrow night, which means bigger tides, so on the ebb tide from mid morning to mid afternoon, any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced as the extra volume of water drains off the beach. Even on cloudy days, you can get sunburnt, so use sun protection and swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
