Hervey Bay

Snapper and golden trevally on the artificial reefs, queenfish around the bay islands, school mackerel in the western and southern bay, coral trout and grunter bream in Gatakers Bay, sand whiting and grunter bream along the beaches from Burrum Heads to Urangan, school mackerel and longtail tuna off the Urangan jetty, threadfin and blue salmon in Sandy straits, flathead at the creek mouths, grunter bream, mangrove jack, flathead and barramundi in the Burrum River, flathead, whiting, bream and mangrove jack in the creeks and bass, grunter bream and saratoga in the upper reaches of the Mary River.

Fraser Island

Dart and tailor along the eastern beaches. Caution is required for all beach travel, due to the number of vehicles on the island and soft sand. Travelling on low tide is best and apart from keeping an eye out for washouts and undulations in the beach, be aware that kids can run down the beach from camp sites and parked vehicles.
