Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued 5.30am 27 January 2024
Wind:
Light NW/N early, becoming 10-15kts N/NE during the morning
Swell:
0.75-1m E/NE
Tides:
High 9.15am … Low 3.45pm
Best waves:
Wave quality is poor. The swell is an even mix of East and NE and although winds are light NW/N this morning, there’s still a bit of bump on the water due to last night’s northerly wind. The best option would be to look for early beach breaks and as the wind swings N/NE during the day and freshens, the best options will be at Sunshine Beach, Yaroomba, Kawana, Kings Beach Caloundra, Southport Spit and on the south side of the headlands on the Tweed Coast
Best Beaches:
The best time for a swim will be early this morning, while the winds are light and the tide is making. Later in the day, when the wind freshens and swings N/NE, the best beaches will be Kings at Caloundra and Southport Spit to Surfers Paradise
Due to last night’s full moon, there will be big daytime high tides for the next few days. As the extra volume of water drains off the beach on the ebb tide from late morning through the afternoon, rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced, so swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
It’s always a good idea to check for bluebottles before going in the water, so check along the tide line to see if any have been blown or washed ashore, look for signs in the patrolled areas, or ask the beach patrol
