Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.20am 27th February 2024
Weather:
The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 40% chance of showers and a top temperature of 30 degrees
Wind:
5-10kts S/SW early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE during the morning, freshening to 15kts plus this afternoon
Swell:
0.5-1m Easterly, possibly becoming E/SE and increasing a little through the day
Tides:
Low 3.30am & 4pm … High: 10am
Best waves:
While the wind is light S/SW, look for beach breaks on the open beaches. The Gold Coast beach breaks are cleaner than on the Sunshine Coast this morning. When the wind swings SE, the points will be the best option.
Best for long boards on the points today. There’s fun little waves on the Gold Coast points. It’s really small in the inner bays at Noosa and maybe a walk to the outer bays might find a bit more size and The Bluff at Alex and Moffats are worth a look
Best Beaches:
Based on the forecast, the best beaches for a swim today will the bays at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh. Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay and this morning on the making tide will be best.
As we move further away from last Saturday night’s full moon, tides are slowly decreasing, but with the tide ebbing from late morning through the afternoon, any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced, so swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags and make sure you use sun protection
