Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Updated at 1.30pm 24th February 2024
Wind: A trough has pushed through the Gold Coast and is currently moving slowly north through Moreton Bay. Winds just behind the trough are light SW/S, but are expected to become more S/SE and freshen overnight.
Winds on the Sunshine Coast are currently light NE and if the trough continues its northerly movement, should swing SW/S later this afternoon.
Swell:
1m Easterly
Tides:
High: 8.30am & 8.30pm … Low 2.45pm
Best waves:
Now the winds on the Gold Coast are light SW/S, the points are cleaner than they were this morning and the beach breaks also have clean waves. On the Sunshine Coast, although the winds are currently NE, they are very light and there’s waves on the points and the beach breaks, but the quality isn’t as good as the Gold Coast.
Best Beaches:
It’s a partly cloudy day and the temperature is currently 29-30 degrees. Showers and storms are on the radar and are moving into coastal areas. With the full moon tonight, there was a big high tide this morning and as it ebbs to a mid afternoon low, the increased volume of water draining off the beach is enhancing any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters, so swim in patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
