Hervey Bay

Longtail tuna, spanish and spotty mackerel feeding deep off Rooney Point and in Platypus Bay, grassy sweetlip, coral trout, cod and blackall on the deep inshore reefs, coral trout, grunter bream and cod on the shallow reefs, trevally off the Urangan Jetty, dart, whiting and grunter bream along the town beaches, flathead at the creek mouths, mangrove jack, grunter bream and mud crabs in the Burrum River and threadfin salmon and school jew at River Heads.

Tin Can Bay

Snapper, sweetlip, tuskfish and blackall on the rubble beds off Norman Point, estuary cod along Teebar ledge, at Bluff Reef and the deep hole near Inskip Point, sand whiting on the first of the ebb on the banks near Snack Shack and Crab Creek mouth, squid around the moored boats and mangrove jack and mud crabs in the creeks.

Noosa

Bream, whiting and grunter bream along the Noosaville and Tewantin reach of the Noosa River and trevally in Woods Bay.

Mangrove jack near the dog beach at the Noosa River mouth, flathead and grunter bream in Woods Bay and queenfish and grunter bream around Doonella.

Pearl perch, cobia, spanish and spotty mackerel at North and Sunshine Reefs.

Pearl perch, sweetlip, snapper, cobia and mackerel at North Reef.

Maroochydore

Bream throughout the Maroochy River, flathead along the Bli Bli reach and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches.

Mooloolaba

Spotty mackerel and grassy sweetlip at Coolum Reef, spotty mackerel at Currimundi Reef and the Outer Gneerings, pearl perch at Caloundra wide, tuskfish on the Barwon Banks, mangrove jack in the Mooloolah River canals and mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Black marlin 18nm east of Mooloolaba and on the Barwon Banks, amberjack at the Hards and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Caloundra

Sweetlip on the close Caloundra reefs, spanish and spotty mackerel at Currimundi Reef, Caloundra 5, 7 and 9 Mile, dart and whiting along the beaches, sand whiting on the making tide at the mouth of the creeks that run off Pumicestone Passage, mangrove jack in the lakes and canals and mud crabs in the creeks.

Donnybrook

Flathead along the drop offs, sand whiting at Roys, Little Goat Island and mouth of Glasshouse Creek, mangrove jack at 112, in Elimbah and Glasshouse Creeks, bream at 112 and in Dunlops Gutter and trevally in the deeper parts.

Northern Moreton Bay

Black marlin in 100 metres east of Moreton Island, mahi mahi around the FADs, spanish mackerel at Hutchison Shoal, school mackerel near the old four beacons, longtail and mack tuna in the northern bay, snapper on the Redcliffe inshores, flathead at the mouth of the Pine and Caboolture Rivers and mangrove jack in the mid to upper reaches.

Redcliffe Peninsula

Snapper, bream, sweetlip and grunter bream around the inshores, rocky points and jetties, bream, whiting, flathead and grunter bream in Hays Inlet, the Pine River and Bramble Bay, mangrove jack, cod and grunter bream in Newport canals and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.

Moreton Bay Offshore

Snapper, pearl perch, jobfish and tuskfish at the Cathedrals, snapper on the 29s and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Brisbane River – Northern Moreton Bay

Grassy sweetlip around the Huybers Light, Green and Mud Islands, school mackerel off Wellington Point, Cleveland, the eastern side of Mud and Green Islands, threadfin salmon in the lower reaches of the Brisbane River, sand crabs around Mud, Green and Fisherman Islands and mud crabs in the creeks.

Wynnum Manly

Sweetlip and snapper around Green Island and along the drop off at Wellington Point, diver whiting on the Chain Banks and in Small Ships Gutter, school mackerel on the Hope Banks and near the Huybers Light and threadfin salmon in the lower reaches of the Brisbane River.

Nth Stradbroke Island

Fish all beaches for dart, whiting, bream and chopper tailor.

Redland Bay

Diver whiting on the Chain Banks, in the Rous Channel and Fishermans Gutter, sweetlip around Mud, Green and Peel Islands, school mackerel on the Hope Banks, threadfin salmon and school jew in the lower reaches of the Brisbane River and bream in Raby Bay canals.

Snapper, sweetlip and trevally in the clean water around Goat and Peel Islands.

Jumpinpin

Tailor early morning between the Pin Bar and Crusoe Island, flathead and whiting along Kalinga Bank and the southern end of North Straddie and bream and small snapper at the Five Ways, Rocky Point and Cobby rocks.

Sand whiting near Slipping Sands, threadfin salmon at Giants Grave and mud crabs in Jacobs Well channel.

Southport

Spanish and spotty mackerel east of Southport, at Palm Beach and Mermaid Reefs, snapper, amberjack, yellowtail king, trag jew and black marlin on the 42s, black marlin and mahi mahi on the 36s, dart and whiting along the beaches, mangrove jack, flathead and school jew in Southport Seaway, flathead, whiting, bream and sand crabs in Southport Broadwater, mangrove jack and trevally in the canals and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.

Black marlin and mahi mahi in 70 to 90 metres east of Southport and tailor, whiting and sand crabs in Southport Broadwater.

Currumbin

Spotty mackerel at Palm Beach Reef, dart, whiting and flathead along the beaches, flathead, bream and whiting on the making tide in the lower reaches of the creeks and mangrove jack and mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Tweed Coast

Flathead, bream, trevally, grunter bream and mangrove jack in the lower reaches of the Tweed River.

Tuskfish, snapper and foxfish on the 30s east of the Tweed.

Evans Head

Snapper and trag jew at North Ground and Kahors Reef, bream and a few tailor along Airforce Beach, bream and flathead along the rock walls at the Evans River mouth, bream, flathead and whiting in the lower reaches and mud crabs in the upper reaches.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Boondooma Dam

Bass and golden perch on trolled lures in the Stuart River, around the Junction and Barbers Pole and bass located with sounder in the deep in the main basin.

Bjelke Petersen Dam

Bass and golden perch on blades and ice jigs close to the timber towards the dam wall, golden perch on bait at the start of the timber and bass on trolled lures along the creek bed near Bass Point.

Lake Kurwongbah

Bass and saratoga early morning on surface lures around the dam edges and bass during the day on small blades and soft plastics along the weed edges.

Hinze Dam

Bass located with sounder early morning close to the dam edges and during the day on soft plastics and metal jigs in the deeper parts.

Maroon Dam

Bass at dawn and dusk on surface lures and creature baits around the dam edges and during the day on chatter baits and small crank baits in the upper reaches of the creek.

Moogerah Dam

Bass on large crank baits in about 10 to 15 feet along the edges towards the timber
