Fishing Report

The annual barramundi closed season along Queensland’s east coast starts from midday 1st November to midday 1st February 2024 except in stocked impoundments.

Hervey Bay

Tuskfish, hussar, gold spotted wrasse, jobfish and red throat emperor wide of Breaksea Spit, spotty mackerel, longtail and mack tuna in Platypus Bay, cobia and trevally under the bait balls, sweetlip, coral trout, blackall and cod on the inshore reefs, flathead and a few whiting along the town beaches, trevally, pencil squid, school and broad barred mackerel off the Urangan jetty, grunter bream, school jew, threadfin and blue salmon at River Heads and in Sandy Straits and mangrove jack in the Burrum River and creeks on the western side of Fraser Island.

Rainbow Beach Offshore

Tin Can Bay

Flathead in Teebar Creek and on the flats in front of the Skate Park, sweetlip and blackall at Norman Point, trevally on the flats around the Powerlines, queenfish on the ebb tide at the mouth of the creeks and squid close to the moored boats in Tin Can Inlet.

Bream, whiting and trevally along the Tewantin reach of the Noosa River, flathead in Woods Bay, sand crabs in the lower reaches and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches.
