Hervey Bay

Snapper, pearl perch, wahoo and yellowfin tuna on the Shelf, spanish mackerel on the Shoals, mahi mahi around the FADs, spanish and school mackerel in the shipping channels, golden trevally on the Outer Banks and reefs in Platypus Bay, snapper, sweetlip, coral trout and cod on the inshore reefs, longtail and mack tuna throughout the bay, queenfish along the ledges on the western side of Fraser Island, grunter bream, threadfin and blue salmon in the creeks that run off Sandy Straits, dart and whiting along the town beaches, trevally, flathead, queenfish and broad barred mackerel off the Urangan jetty, flathead and queenfish at the creek mouths and mangrove jack in the Burrum River.

Rainbow Beach Offshore

Pearl perch, snapper, hussar, tuskfish and cobia about 20nm east of Wide Bay Bar.

Tin Can Bay

Spanish mackerel and wahoo at the Pinnacle, mahi mahi around the Fads, sand whiting on the making tide on the flats in Tin Can Bay, diver whiting in the deep water near the moored boats and mangrove jack, barramundi, cod and mud crabs in the creeks.

Noosa

Bream, whiting, grunter bream and school jew along the Tewantin reach of the Noosa River, flathead and trevally in Woods Bay and mud crabs along the Noosaville reach.

Golden trevally at the Noosa River mouth, flathead and trevally in Woods Bay and queenfish and school jew at the entrance to Lake Cooroibah.

Coral trout, gold spotted cod, spanish mackerel and cobia at Chardons and North Reefs.

Snapper, tuskfish and moses perch on the Barwon Banks and cobia, spanish and spotty mackerel at North Reef.

Maroochydore

Sand whiting in the lower reaches of the Maroochy River, trevally around the Motorway Bridge pylons, Goat and Channel Islands, bream and flathead at the Cod Hole, school jew in the deep holes in the mid to upper reaches and mud crabs throughout the river.

Mooloolaba

Snapper at Caloundra 12 mile, spanish mackerel at the Inner Gneerings and Currimundi Reef, bream throughout the Mooloolah River, flathead and whiting in the lower reaches and mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Grassy sweetlip at Raper Shoal and near the new bar at Caloundra.

Black marlin and wahoo from the 50m line to the Hards, spanish and spotty mackerel on the inshore reefs, longtail and mack tuna on the Gneering Shoals and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Caloundra

Spanish mackerel and longtail tuna at Caloundra 5, 9 and 12 mile, dart, bream and tarwhine along the beaches, sand whiting at the mouth of the creeks in Pumicestone Passage, mangrove jack in the canals and mud crabs in the creeks.

Donnybrook

Flathead and bream along the drop offs, sand whiting at Mission Point and Coochin Creek mouth, grunter bream at Poverty Creek mouth and downstream from Mission Point, school jew at 112 and sand crabs off Toorbul.

Bribie Island

School mackerel, longtail and mack tuna off Woorim, flathead near Buckleys Hole, sand whiting at Sandstone Point and White Patch, grassy sweetlip at the Ripples and sand crabs in the main channel.

Northern Moreton Bay

School mackerel, golden trevally, longtail and mack tuna around the shipping beacons, snapper on the shallow reefs, black marlin off Cape Moreton and flathead on the ebb tide at the mouth of the Caboolture and Pine Rivers.

Redcliffe Peninsula

Threadfin salmon, school mackerel, tuna and cobia in Bramble Bay, bream, flathead, snapper and squid around the inshores, rocky points and jetties, flathead, whiting and queenfish in the Pine River and Hays Inlet, mangrove jack in Newport canals, sand crabs in Deception and Bramble Bays and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.

Moreton Bay Offshore

Snapper, pearl perch and tuskfish at the Cathedrals and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Brisbane River – Northern Moreton Bay

Snapper and sweetlip around Mud and Green Islands, spotty and school mackerel on the eastern side of Green Island and between the Hope Banks and Hanlon Light and bream, whiting and flathead in the lower reaches of the Brisbane River.

Wynnum Manly

Diver whiting off the Sandhills, on the Chain, Amity and Maroom Banks, school mackerel south of the Hope Banks, tailor along Manly rock walls, flathead on Lota flats and sand crabs in the deep channels in the bay.

Nth Stradbroke Island

Fish all beaches for dart, whiting, flathead and chopper tailor.

Redland Bay

Spanish mackerel at the Group, snapper at West Peel artificial reef, spotty mackerel in the Rous Channel and on the Hope Banks, longtail tuna between Shark Spit and the Sandhills, diver whiting in Fishermans Gutter and bream at Cleveland Point and in Raby Bay canals.

Flathead and bream between Cabbage Tree Point and Jacobs Well.

Jumpinpin

Flathead off the NE end of Crusoe Island and in Tiger Mullet Channel, sand whiting on Gold Bank and in Fishermans Channel and bream on top of the tide around Oak Island and Kalinga Bank.

Mulloway on the reefs wide of the Pin Bar, tailor in the surf at South Straddie, bream near Jacobs Well jetty and mud crabs in the creeks.

Southport

Spanish and spotty mackerel wide of the Pin Bar, snapper on the 24s, mahi mahi around the FADs, flathead, whiting and sand crabs in Southport Broadwater and bream and mangrove jack around the bridge pylons and jetties in the Nerang and Coomera Rivers.

Spanish and spotty mackerel on the close reefs east of Southport.

Currumbin

Spotty mackerel on the local reefs, bream, whiting, flathead and mangrove jack in the creeks and it would be worth setting a few pots for mud crabs.

Tweed Coast

Flathead, bream, trevally and school jew in the upper reaches of the Tweed River.

Pearl perch and tuskfish on the 24s east of the Tweed and spanish mackerel on live baits.

Pottsville

Snapper, spanish and spotty mackerel on the local reefs, dart, bream and a few tailor along the beaches, flathead, bream, whiting and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches of the creeks, mangrove jack around the snaggy banks and luderick close to the rock walls and bridge pylons in the lower reaches.

Evans Head

Snapper and trag jew on Kahors Reef, spotty and broad barred mackerel at Riordan Shoal and South Reef, tailor and jew at night and early morning along Airforce Beach, bream, luderick, flathead, a few tailor and jew along the rock walls at the Evans River mouth, bream, flathead, whiting and trevally in the lower reaches, mangrove jack around the snaggy banks and mud crabs in the upper reaches.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Boondooma Dam

Bass on blades near the timber in the Boyne and Stuart Rivers, on plastics and spoons along Leisegangs Ledge and golden perch on trolled lures around the points in the Narrows.

Bjelke Petersen Dam

Bass on spinner baits near the timber in the main basin, on spoons fished close to the bottom at Pelican Point and golden perch on ZX40s around Bass Point.

Borumba Dam

Bass at dawn and dusk on spinner baits around the dam edges.

Lake Kurwongbah

Saratoga at dawn and dusk on surface lures around the dam edges.

Hinze Dam

Bass on small diving hard bodies and saratoga on sub surface lures in about 3 to 4 metres.

Somerset Dam

Bass on deep diving crank and chatter baits around the points in Bay 13 and at Queen Street.

Moogerah Dam

Bass at dawn and dusk on light coloured lipless crank and chatter baits along the edges towards the timber.

Maroon Dam

Bass on dark coloured lipless crank and chatter baits along the timbered edges towards the old creek bed.
