Hervey Bay

School mackerel, longtail and mack tuna in Platypus Bay, coral trout, grassy sweetlip and snapper on the inshore reefs, diver whiting off Gatakers Bay, threadfin salmon and grunter bream in Sandy Straits, bream and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks and sand crabs in the southern and western bay.

Rainbow Beach Offshore

Pearl perch, red emperor, tuskfish, nannygai, sweetlip, mahi mahi, amberjack and spanish mackerel about 15nm east of Wide Bay bar.

Noosa

Sand whiting and moses perch at the Noosa River mouth and grunter bream, trevally, whiting and mud crabs along the Tewantin reach.

Bream and grunter bream along the Tewantin reach of the Noosa River, bream and queenfish in Woods Bay and flathead in the Frying Pan.

Coral trout, sweetlip and tuskfish at Sunshine Reef and spanish mackerel and longtail tuna wide of Sunshine Reef.

Grassy sweetlip, coral trout, pearl perch and spanish mackerel at North and Sunshine Reefs.

Maroochydore

Flathead and sand crabs in the lower reaches of the Maroochy River, sand whiting around Chambers Island, entrance to Twin Waters and along the Bli Bli reach, trevally, queenfish and school jew at the Cod Hole, chopper tailor on top of the tide near the river mouth and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches.

Mooloolaba

Spanish mackerel around the Gneering Shoals and channel markers off Caloundra, snapper and sweetlip at Caloundra 12 mile, flathead at the mouth of the creeks that run off Pumicestone Passage, bream at night around the trawler moorings in the Mooloolah River and it would be worth setting a few pots for mud crabs.

Grassy sweetlip on the inshore reefs.

Pearl perch, snapper, jobfish and tuskfish on the Barwon Banks and spanish and school mackerel off Caloundra.

Caloundra

Snapper, sweetlip, cobia, spotty and spanish mackerel on the inshore reefs, bream, dart and a few tailor along the beaches, bream, flathead, whiting and chopper tailor in Pumicestone Passage, mangrove jack and trevally in the canals and mangrove jack and mud crabs in the creeks. 

Donnybrook

Flathead on the banks around Mission Point and the mouth of Glasshouse Creek, grassy sweetlip and small snapper at 112, sand whiting near Lime Pocket, school jew at the southern end of Little Goat Island and mud crabs in the deeper holes.

Bribie Island

Longtail tuna downstream from the Bribie Bridge, flathead and queenfish at Ningi Creek mouth, flathead and whiting at Coochin Creek mouth, flathead at Lime Pocket, snapper in Gallagher Gutter and along the ledge at Banksia Beach, trevally in the canals, sand crabs on the Cockle Banks and mud crabs close to the mangroves from Lime Pocket to The Skids.

Northern Moreton Bay

Flathead and whiting at the mouth of the Pine and Caboolture Rivers, sand whiting on the making tide at the mouth of the creeks that run off Pumicestone Passage, sand crabs off the southern end of Bribie Island and out from Redcliffe and mud crabs in the creeks.

Redcliffe Peninsula

Grassy sweetlip, snapper, tuskfish and bream on the inshore reefs, diver whiting on the Cockle Banks, bream, flathead and school jew off the Ted Smout fishing platform, flathead, whiting and bream in the Pine River and Hays Inlet, a few tailor on the eastern side of the Peninsula, sand crabs in Deception and Bramble Bays and mud crabs in the creeks.

Moreton Bay Offshore

Snapper, pearl perch and yellowtail king on the 29s and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Brisbane River – Northern Moreton Bay

School mackerel on the eastern side of Green Island, sweetlip and small snapper around Mud and Green Islands, diver whiting on the eastern side of Fisherman Islands, bream and threadfin salmon in the lower reaches of the Brisbane River and sand crabs between D’Arcy Light and Manly Harbour leads.

Wynnum Manly

Diver whiting in the Small Ships Gutter, school mackerel around Peel, Goat and Bird Islands, small snapper at West Peel artificial reef and bream, flathead and threadfin salmon in the lower reaches of the Brisbane River.

Wellington Pt

School mackerel and mack tuna on the eastern side of Peel Island, diver whiting in the Rous channel and Small Ships gutter, bream and mud crabs in the canals and mud crabs in the creeks.

Nth Stradbroke Island

Bream, whiting and flathead along the foreshores at Amity Point and Dunwich and longtail tuna off Amity Point jetty.

Redland Bay

School mackerel between Green Island and Wellington Point, in the Rainbow and Rous Channels, diver whiting in the Rous Channel, small snapper at Harry Atkinson artificial reef, mulloway at West Peel artificial reef, sand crabs off Ormiston and Wellington Point, mud crabs around the mangrove islands and in the creeks, sand whiting near Slipping Sands, tailor on top of the tide at Cleveland Point and bream in the canals.

Bream on bait around the southern bay islands.

Bream and small snapper around Coochiemudlo Island.

Jumpinpin

Flathead and whiting along the southern end of North Straddie, bream and small snapper at the Five Ways, Rocky Point and Cobby rocks and tailor early morning between the Pin Bar and Crusoe Island.

Snapper and spanish mackerel on the 18s, flathead along Jacob Well foreshores and the southern end of Kangaroo Island and sand crabs in Tipplers Passage.

Southport

Dart, whiting and a few tailor along the beaches, flathead, tailor and jew inside the Pin Bar, flathead, mulloway, tailor and snapper in Southport Seaway, garfish and whiting on the banks in Southport Broadwater, mangrove jack in the Nerang, Pimpama and Coomera Rivers and mud crabs in the creeks.

Flame snapper on the Continental Shelf east of Southport and sand whiting inside the Pin Bar.

Currumbin

Spanish and spotty mackerel at Palm Beach reef and the Gravel Patch east of Burleigh, flathead, whiting and a few tailor along the beaches, flathead and whiting on the making tide in the lower reaches of Tallebudgera and Currumbin Creeks and mud crabs in the middle reaches.

Tweed Coast

Flathead, bream, whiting, trevally, grunter bream and school jew in the middle reaches of the Tweed River.

Snapper, tuskfish, pigfish and flathead on the 30s east of the Tweed.

Pottsville

Bream, whiting, flathead, tailor and school jew along the beaches, bream, flathead and whiting on the flood tide in the lower reaches of the creeks and mud crabs in the middle reaches.

Evans Head

Snapper and trag jew on Kahors Reef, bream, flathead, whiting, a few tailor and jew along the beaches, bream, flathead and whiting on the making tide in the lower reaches of the Evans River and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Borumba Dam

Saratoga on shallow running lures around the weed beds and bass on deep worked vibes and ice jigs in the deeper parts.

Lake Samsonvale

Bass at dawn and dusk on white chartreuse coloured chatter and spinner baits around the dam edges.

Hinze Dam

Bass on live shrimp rigged under a float in the sheltered bays.

Moogerah Dam

Bass and golden perch on tail spinners and vibration lures in about 16 feet and bass on trolled deep diving lures along the old river bed.

Maroon Dam

Bass early morning on surface lures and small poppers around the dam edges and during the day on dark coloured chatter and vibration baits rolled off the edge into the deeper water.
