Hervey Bay

Coral trout, red emperor, sweetlip, pearl perch, snapper and tuskfish on the wide reefs; however, sharks are a huge problem. Grunter bream and scarlet sea perch on the rubble reefs and longtail tuna in Platypus Bay, school mackerel near the Fairway Buoy, coral trout, grassy sweetlip and cod on the change of the tide on the inshore reefs, coral trout, grassy sweetlip and grunter bream off Point Vernon, threadfin salmon in Sandy Straits, sand crabs in the bay and mud crabs in the creeks. Green toad fish are widespread along the beaches from Burrum Heads to Urangan.

Rainbow Beach Offshore

Red emperor, snapper, pearl perch, hussar, cod, tuskfish and scarlet sea perch about 15nm east of Wide Bay Bar.

Noosa

Bream and golden trevally in the lower reaches of the Noosa River.

Flathead at the dog beach near the Noosa River mouth and in Woods Bay, bream, flathead, grunter bream and tarwhine along the Tewantin reach and bream in Noosa Sound.

Coral trout, sweetlip, snapper and cobia at Sunshine Reef and large mouth nannygai and spanish mackerel off Double Island Point.

Snapper, pearl perch, sweetlip, coral trout and spanish mackerel on the local reefs.

Maroochydore

Flathead at the mouth of the Maroochy River, sand whiting around Chambers Island and Black Bank, flathead and grunter bream at the mouth of Eudlo Creek, school jew in the deep holes and queenfish and mud crabs in the middle reaches.

Mooloolaba

Spanish mackerel at Caloundra 12 Mile and the Gneering Shoals, pearl perch at Caloundra wide, sand whiting in the low tide gutters along the beaches, bream along the La Balsa Park reach of the Mooloolah River and it would be worth setting a few pots for mud crabs.

Quality snapper at Caloundra 5 mile.

Amberjack, tuskfish, pearl perch and sweetlip on the Barwon Banks.

Caloundra

Flathead, grunter bream, trevally, whiting and mud crabs in Pumicestone Passage, flathead, whiting and bream in Currimundi Lake and mangrove jack and mud crabs in the creeks and canals.

Donnybrook

Snapper at 112 and Glasshouse Creek mouth, flathead along the drop offs, sand whiting at Mission Point, trevally in the deep water between Mission Point and 112 and mud crabs out from the mouth of the creeks.

Bribie Island

Longtail tuna in the northern bay, mangrove jack in Elimbah Creek, sand whiting at Turners Camp rest area, bream in the canals and mud crabs in the creeks.

Northern Moreton Bay

Spanish mackerel on slow trolled hard bodies and bait at Hutchison Shoal, snapper off Woody Point Jetty and on the inshore reefs at Scarborough, longtail and mack tuna in the northern bay and mud crabs at the mouth of the creeks.

Redcliffe Peninsula

Snapper and bream around the inshore reefs and rocky points, bream and flathead off the Ted Smout fishing platform, bream, whiting and flathead in Hays Inlet and the Pine River, sand and mud crabs in Deception Bay and mud crabs at the southern end of the Peninsula.

Moreton Bay Offshore

Snapper, pearl perch and mahi mahi at Deep Tempest.

Brisbane River – Northern Moreton Bay

The water in the Brisbane River is very fresh and fishing has been average. It could be worth trying for mud crabs in the lower reaches. 

Wynnum Manly

Diver whiting in the Small Ships Gutter, flathead and whiting on Lota flats, bream in Manly Harbour, sand crabs in 4 metres and mud crabs in the creeks.

Wellington Pt

School mackerel in the Rous Channel, snapper and sweetlip on the shallow reefs, squid around the Huybers Beacon and Wellington Point and sand crabs in 5 metres off Wellington Point.

Nth Stradbroke Island

Strong winds and an increasing swell along the beaches have made it hard to fish.  As the seas settle, try for dart, bream, whiting and tailor.

Redland Bay

School mackerel inside South Passage Bar, sand whiting on the making tide at the mouth of the creeks, bream on flesh baits in the canals and worth setting a few pots for mud crabs out from the mouth of the creeks.

The water in the southern bay is still very dirty due to flood run off.

Bream and small snapper on the making tide around Coochiemudlo Island.

Jumpinpin

Sand whiting at the Pig Sties and northern end of South Straddie, flathead along Kalinga Bank and on top of the tide at the entrance to Cobby Passage and bream at the Stockyards and NE tip of Crusoe Island.

Snapper on the inshore reefs, sand whiting on Gold Bank and mud crabs in the creeks.

Southport

Flathead, tailor and whiting inside the Pin Bar, trevally, tailor and snapper on the making tide in Southport Seaway and mud crabs in Southport Broadwater and lower reaches of the creeks.

Spanish mackerel in 20 fathoms east of Southport and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Currumbin

Heavy rain over the past few days, not much fishing done.  The water in the creeks is very fresh and fishing has been average and it could be worth trying for mud crabs in the next couple of days. 

Tweed Coast

Due to heavy rain and flooding most people have been thinking about other things apart from fishing.

Snapper, maori cod and tuskfish on the 30s east of the Tweed.

Pottsville

After heavy rain this week there’s a lot of fresh coming down the creeks and the best place to fish is near the mouth on the flooding tide where the clean water meets the fresh. Expect to catch a few bream, flathead, whiting and mud crabs.

Evans Head

Bream and a few mulloway along the beaches and bream, flathead and mulloway off the south wall at the Evans River mouth.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Boondooma Dam

Golden perch on blades around the Barbers Pole and mouth of the Stuart River and bass located with sounder on plastics and spoons throughout.

Lenthalls Dam

The dam is still discoloured; but a few bass and barramundi have been caught.

Lake Samsonvale

Bass on spinner baits along the newly flooded banks.

Hinze Dam

Bass on spinner baits along the newly flooded grassy banks in the upper reach of the western arm.

Somerset Dam

Bass located with sounder on trolled lures and bait and red claw around the rocks, weed and sticks; best bait has been rockmelon.

Maroon Dam

Bass and golden perch at dawn and dusk on surface lures around the dam edges, on chatter baits and small soft plastics off the points and on spinner baits close to the timber in the upper reaches. Plenty of tilapia on worms on the weed beds; remember these a noxious pest fish and should not be released if caught; please dispose of in the bins provided.
