Hervey Bay

Coral trout, sweetlip and spanish mackerel in the Gutters, longtail and mack tuna in Platypus Bay, grassy sweetlip, coral trout and cod on the inshore reefs, threadfin salmon on the flats in Sandy Straits, sand whiting on the making tide along the beaches from Burrum Heads to Urangan, grunter bream at Point Vernon and mud crabs in the creeks.

Rainbow Beach Offshore

Red emperor, nannygai, sweetlip, tuskfish, hussar, scarlet sea perch and cod about 15nm east of Wide Bay Bar.

Noosa

Flathead and whiting at the Noosa River mouth, grunter bream along the Tewantin reach and trevally in Lake Cooroibah.

Flathead and bream at the Noosa River mouth and bream and estuary cod in Woods Bay.

Coral trout, sweetlip, tuskfish, pearl perch and spanish mackerel at Sunshine Reef.

Coral trout, pearl perch, sweetlip, tuskfish and mackerel at Chardons Reef.

Maroochydore

Flathead and whiting in the lower reaches of the Maroochy River, tailor, trevally and mulloway on the making tide in the middle reaches and mangrove jack in the upper reaches and creeks.

Mooloolaba

Snapper and sweetlip on the inshore reefs, sand whiting in the low tide gutters along the beaches, trevally and bream along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River mouth, trevally around the trawler moorings, mangrove jack in the upper reaches and mud crabs in the canals.

Grassy sweetlip and snapper at Raper Shoal and cobia around the NW Fairway Buoy.

Amberjack, tuskfish and snapper on the Barwon Banks.

Caloundra

Spanish mackerel and mack tuna at Caloundra 9 Mile, snapper and sweetlip on the close reefs, flathead, grunter bream and trevally in Pumicestone Passage and mangrove jack in the creeks.

Donnybrook

Sand whiting on the banks at Mission Point and Glasshouse Creek mouth, flathead between Poverty Creek and Mission Point, bream around Little Goat Island and mud crabs in the deep water out from the mouth of the creeks.

Bribie Island

Mack tuna in the northern bay, snapper and sweetlip at the Ripples, mangrove jack and estuary cod in Pacific Harbour canals, grunter bream and tarwhine in Ningi Creek, bream around the Avon wreck and sand whiting at the mouth of Ningi Creek.

Northern Moreton Bay

Snapper on soft plastics and unweighted baits on Scarborough Reef, flathead on the ebb tide at the mouth of the Pine and Caboolture Rivers, sand whiting at the mouth of the creeks that run off Pumicestone Passage and worth setting a few pots for mud crabs at the mouth of the rivers and creeks.

Redcliffe Peninsula

Snapper and a few tailor on the inshore reefs, flathead and whiting in Hays Inlet and the Pine River, sand crabs in Deception Bay and mud crabs around the Peninsula.

Moreton Bay Offshore

Spanish mackerel at the One Mile and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Brisbane River – Northern Moreton Bay

Sweetlip and snapper off Wellington Point, around Green and Mud Islands, sand crabs off Wynnum foreshores and mud crabs along the mangroves from Wynnum to Fishermans Island.

Wynnum Manly

Small snapper around Green Island, diver whiting on the Chain Banks and in the Small Ships Gutter, flathead and whiting on Lota flats, sand crabs in 3 to 4 metres, bream in Manly Harbour and mud crabs in the creeks.

Wellington Pt

Bream, snapper and sweetlip on the shallow reefs, bream on the making tide along Wellington Point foreshores, grassy sweetlip and bream off the jetty and mud crabs out from the mouth of the creeks.

Nth Stradbroke Island

Fish all beaches for dart, whiting, bream and flathead.

Redland Bay

Sweetlip and snapper on the shallow reefs, school mackerel in the Rainbow and Rous Channels, diver whiting on the Chain Banks and sand whiting on top of the tide at the mouth of the creeks.

Dirty water in the southern bay has made fishing hard; had reports that there is cleaner water north of Peel Island.

Jumpinpin

Flathead off Cabbage Tree Point, the NE tip of Crusoe Island and around Tabby Tabby Island, sand whiting near Slipping Sands and in Fishermans Channel and mangrove jack at Rocky Point.

Snapper on the inshore reefs, flathead inside the Pin Bar and mud crabs in the creeks.

Southport

Spotty mackerel on Palm Beach and Diamond Reefs, snapper on the 24s, black marlin at Spot X, flathead inside the Pin Bar and at the northern end of Southport Broadwater and sand whiting around Wave Break Island.

Spanish mackerel, sailfish and mahi mahi on the 24s and 50s east of Southport and flathead and whiting inside the Pin Bar.

Currumbin

Spanish mackerel on Palm Beach Reef, flathead, whiting and bream on the making tide at the mouth of Tallebudgera and Currumbin Creeks and mud crabs in the lower reaches.

Tweed Coast

Flathead, bream, whiting and trevally in the middle reaches of the Tweed River.

Snapper, tuskfish, pearl perch and yellowfin tuna on the 30s east of the Tweed.

Pottsville

Dart, bream, flathead and whiting along the beaches, flathead, bream and whiting on the making tide in the lower reaches of the creeks and mud crabs in the middle reaches.

Evans Head

Snapper, mulloway and trag jew on Kahors Reef, tailor and mulloway along Airforce Beach, tailor and whiting along the south wall at the Evans River mouth and bream, flathead and whiting on the making tide in the lower reaches.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Boondooma Dam

Bass and golden perch on bait and lures around the timber in the Boyne River and bass on hopped vibes and blades along Leisegang’s Ledge.

Lake Samsonvale

Bass on spinner baits and surface lures along the newly flooded grassy banks.

Hinze Dam

The western arm is now open for recreational use.  Bass and saratoga on small plastics along the newly flooded grassy banks and bass on jerk baits close to the timbered edges.

Somerset Dam

There has been a rise in the water level since the rain and fishing has been tough. As the water levels settle fishing should improve.  You could try for bass on hard bodies trolled to 10 to 15 feet along the drop offs.

Maroon Dam

Bass and golden perch early morning on surface lures around the dam edges and during the day on suspended jerk baits and small vibration lures along the drop offs.
