Hervey Bay

Longtail tuna in Platypus Bay, trevally on the deep reefs, coral trout, grassy sweetlip and grunter bream on the shallow reefs, school mackerel around the shipping beacons, grunter bream along the ledges in Sandy Straits, grunter bream at night and sand whiting during the day along the beaches from Burrum Heads to Urangan, sand crabs in the bay north of the Banks and threadfin salmon and mud crabs in the creeks.

Rainbow Beach Offshore

Pearl perch, nannygai, sweetlip, snapper and moses perch about 10nm east of Wide Bay Bar.

Noosa

Sand whiting near the Noosa River mouth, grunter bream along the Tewantin reach and trevally at the entrance to Lake Cooroibah.

Trevally along the Tewantin reach of the Noosa River, flathead, bream and grunter bream in Lake Cooroibah and flathead in Woods Bay.

Snapper, pearl perch, tuskfish, cobia and mackerel off Double Island Point.

Coral trout, sweetlip, tuskfish and mackerel on North Reef.

Maroochydore

Sand whiting on the making tide in the lower reaches of the Maroochy River, flathead at the creek mouths, trevally around the Motorway Bridge pylons, mangrove jack along the wetlands reach and in Petrie Creek and mud crabs close to the mangroves.

Mooloolaba

School mackerel around the shipping beacons, cobia and mahi mahi near the FADs, dart, whiting and flathead along the beaches, trevally near the lock in Parrearra Channel and the trawler moorings in the Mooloolah River and mangrove jack around the pontoons and jetties.

Pearl perch at Caloundra wide, red throat on the Barwon Banks and cobia around the FADs.

Tuskfish, hussar and spotty mackerel on the Barwon Banks.

Caloundra

Sweetlip and school mackerel on the inshore reefs, dart, bream and whiting along the beaches, flathead, bream, whiting, grunter bream and mud crabs in Pumicestone Passage and mangrove jack and trevally in the canals.

Donnybrook

Good bream at Glasshouse Creek mouth and between Mission Point and Poverty Creek mouth, grunter bream in the deep channels, small snapper around the coffee rock off Mission Point, school jew at 112 and mud crabs in the creeks.

Bribie Island

Cobia near Cooks Rock, diver whiting on the Cockle Banks, flathead on the flats off Sandstone Point, grunter bream on blood worms at Ningi Creek mouth, grassy sweetlip near the entrance to Pacific Harbour canals and mangrove jack around Mission Point.

Northern Moreton Bay

School mackerel around the shipping beacons, sand whiting at Red Beach and Woorim, squid on the weed banks off Tangalooma, flathead, whiting and a few mangrove jack in the Pine and Caboolture Rivers and mud crabs in the creeks.

Redcliffe Peninsula

School mackerel and trevally in Bramble Bay, small snapper on the inshore reefs, sand whiting along Margate Beach and in Hays Inlet, flathead and mangrove jack in the Pine River, bream, estuary cod, trevally and mangrove jack in the canals and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.

Moreton Bay Offshore

Snapper, jobfish and mahi mahi at Deep Tempest.

Brisbane River – Northern Moreton Bay

Sweetlip on the shallow reefs, school mackerel around Green and Mud Islands, diver whiting off the eastern end of Fisherman Islands, threadfin salmon along the Hamilton, Colmslie and Port of Brisbane reaches of the Brisbane River, bream and flathead around the Gateway Bridge pylons, Pinkenba sunken wall and Lytton rock wall and mud and sand crabs in the lower reaches and Boat Passage.

Wynnum Manly

Diver whiting in the Rous Channel, school mackerel in the Lazaret Gutter and on the Hope Banks, sweetlip around Green Island and bream on the making tide along Wynnum Manly foreshores.

Wellington Pt

School mackerel in the Rainbow Channel and on the eastern side of Green Island, diver whiting in the Small Ships Gutter and flathead, whiting and squid along Wellington Point foreshores.

Nth Stradbroke Island

Fish all beaches for dart, whiting, bream and flathead.

Redland Bay

Diver whiting on the Hope Banks, in the Rous Channel and Small Ships Gutter, sweetlip and small snapper at West Peel and Harry Atkinson artificial reefs, school mackerel around the shipping beacons and bream on fresh mullet in Raby Bay canals.

Jumpinpin

School mackerel wide of the Pin Bar, sand whiting near Slipping Sands, Gold Bank and Tabby Tabby Island, flathead on the flats north of Cabbage Tree Point, along Tabby Tabby Island and the eastern side of Kangaroo Island and bream along Kalinga Bank and in Whalleys Gutter.

Snapper on the 36s east of the Pin Bar, sand whiting along the western side of South Straddie and mud crabs in the Pimpama River.

Southport

Spanish mackerel on the 40s, spotty mackerel on Palm Beach Reef, black marlin and cobia at Spot X, flathead and whiting in Southport Broadwater and mangrove jack and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.

Pearl perch and bar cod in 150 metres east of Southport and mahi mahi around the FADs.

Currumbin

Flathead, bream and whiting on the making tide near the mouth of Currumbin Creek and a few mangrove jack and mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Tweed Coast

Flathead, bream, whiting, trevally and grunter bream in the lower reaches of the Tweed River.

Tuskfish, snapper and moses perch on the 30s east of the Tweed.

Pottsville

Spanish and spotty mackerel on the close reefs, dart and a few tailor along the beaches, school jew off the headlands, flathead, bream, whiting and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches of the creeks and luderick around the rocky outcrops and bridge pylons in the lower reaches.

Evans Head

Snapper, trag jew and spanish mackerel on Kahors Reef and North Ground, bream and a few tailor along Main and Airforce Beaches, bream and luderick along the rock walls at the Evans River mouth, flathead, whiting and bream in the lower reaches and mud crabs in the upper reaches.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Boondooma Dam

Bass on trolled deep divers in the upper reaches of the Boyne River, golden perch and freshwater jew on live worms and shrimp throughout the dam and good numbers of red claw.

Lake Monduran

Barramundi on paddletail plastics around the weed edges and timber; better quality fish at Callide Dam (12km from Biloela).

Borumba Dam

Saratoga at dawn and dusk on surface lures around the dam edges and bass on vibes in the deeper parts.

Lake Samsonvale

Bass on small plastics and spinner baits around the dam edges.

Bass and saratoga early morning on surface poppers and frog lures around the dam edges and bass during the day on vibration lures cast around the timber and snags.

Hinze Dam

Bass on surface poppers and fly along the newly flooded grassy banks in the western arm and on shrimp in the eastern arm.

Somerset Dam

Bass at dawn and dusk on trolled lures around Pelican Point, Bay 13 and Queen Street.

Wyralong Dam

Bass on small blades and vibration lures in the timber and plenty of carp on floated corn and tilapia on live worms around the dam edges. Remember carp and tilapia are a noxious pest fish and should not be released; please dispose of in the bins provided.

Wivenhoe Dam

Bass early morning on small shallow divers around the weed beds and during the day on hard bodies trolled to 30 feet along the old river bed.

Maroon Dam

Bass at dawn and dusk on small poppers, frog and cicada lures around the dam edges and during the day on small crank baits close to the timber and on 3-inch paddle tails along the drop offs.
