Fishing Report

The southern Spanish mackerel closed seasons for east coast waters south of latitude 22˚S (located slightly north of Stanage Bay, between Mackay and Yeppoon) to the NSW border are from 1st to 21st of February and 1st to 21st of March.

Hervey Bay

Coral trout, grassy sweetlip and nannygai on the deep inshore reefs, trevally around the inshore wrecks and Urangan jetty, grunter bream, mangrove jack, barramundi, threadfin and blue salmon in Sandy Straits, pencil squid in the clean water in the bay, dart, whiting and grunter bream along the town beaches, barramundi and mangrove jack in the Burrum River, threadfin salmon, grunter bream and barramundi in the lower reaches of the Mary River and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.

Tin Can Bay

Mangrove jack and barramundi along the deep ledges in the bay and inlet, diver whiting, squid and sand crabs around the moored boats, mangrove jack, barramundi and mud crabs in the creeks and mud crabs close to the mangroves on the flats.
